Half term challenges

In this morning's assembly I reminded the children about some of the key messages about growth mindset.
Growth mindset promotes a 'can do' attitude and focuses on children's attitudes to learning. When they believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore they put in extra time and effort, and that leads to higher achievement.

If you want to learn about this I recommend typing it into YouTube and watching some of the Class Dojo videos.

Today's assembly focused on three main things:
-We all have a range of skills and different starting points but have to keep trying,
-Our brain is like a muscle and by taking on new challenges it gets stronger,
-Mistakes are good and enable us to learn.

To challenge children, I set them a challenge to learn the cup song. This might be at their own speed, along with the music, in rounds with friends or even sing along whilst performing it.

Cup song tutorial:

For those children who master the cup song, I set the speed stack challenge. I showed them a young boy who made mistakes but had some very impressive speed stacking skills.

It would be amazing if you could join your child with this challenge. Also, it would be great if you could video and email your efforts to your child's teacher. I look forward to seeing a family effort towards the challenges.
Thank you for your support.
